Triphala

Triphala, which literally means "three fruits" is composed of three unique herbs : amalaki , haritaki , and bibhitaki.

The best way to use Tripahala powder for gradual purification and regeneration of the digestive tract is to stir 1 tsp of it into a glass of pure water and  let it sit overnight. Next morning drink the water without stirring, allowing the sedimnet to remain on the bottom, then refill the glass and stir vigorously . Let is sit all day long, and drink it again at night without stirring. Then discard the dregs and stir a fresh teaspoon into a fresh glass of water for the next day.

Triphala has a mild, purgative action on the GI track due to its lubricating qualities. It is a powerful natural remedy for chronic constipation and , unlike most conventional laxatives can be used  safely for prolonged periods of time. It s also a natural rejuvenator, which means it will boost your immunity while healing your constipation.

It is traditionally used to maintain a healthy digestive tract and cleanse and strengthen the lungs, so is useful if you suffer from allergic rhinitis, hay fever or sinusitis.  Used as an eyewash, Triphala is highly effective in treating eye enflammations such as sties and conjunctivitis. Its balanced spectrum of five tastes has also been found to reduce food cravings and prevent overeating, making it useful as part of any weight loss programme when combined with a sensible diet. Being a laxative, Triphala should not be taken in isolation during pregnancy.

During home purification, every night at least one hour after supper take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of triphala. Add about half a cup of boiling water to the triphala powder, and let it steep ten minutes or until it has cooled down, then drink it. Along with its many healing and nourishing properties, triphala is a mild but effective laxative.
