Ayurveda uses a very wide range of herbs, spices, minerals and metals as medicines. 


You may be surprised to learn that many healing Ayurvedic herbs are already lurking in your kitchen cupboard. Common spices such as turmeric, cumin and coriander, for example, have many therapeutic uses.


Asafoetida : Digestive aid, used to cleanse the channels of the body.


This Indian plant is a best natural digestive aid and is now commonly found on supermarket shelves. It is particularly useful for reducing the gas-producing effects of most pulses. Add a pinch of asafoetida whenever you cook lentils or mung beans. Asafoetida can also be sued to relieve coughs and the symptoms of asthma because of its channel-clearing properties.


Black Pepper :  Cleanses the GI tract of undigested toxins, analgesic, anti inflammatory , useful n skin disorders and fever.


Black pepper digests fat and speeds up the metabolism it is a useful part of any weight loss programs


Black pepper stimulates the liver, clears congestion in the lungs and channels of the body and is a powerful nervine tonic.

Simply grind seven peppercorns into a fine powder, mix this with a teaspoon of honey and allow it to dissolve on your tongue. The same formula helps to fight the first signs of cold , flu and fever.

Cardamom : Pain relief,skin problems and wound healing, appetizer and digestive aid

Chewing on a few cardamom seeds is also a handy, natural way to quell nicotine craving if you are giving up smoking.

Cinnamon: Blood purifier, liver cleanser, analgesic and deodorant.

Cloves: Analgesic, blood disorders, expectorant, fever and skin disorders, aphrodisiac.

This is a terrific natural remedy for dental health and pain relief. Clove oil relieves toothache, combats  gum disease and bad breath. Cloves are a powerful aphrodisiac and promote the production of breast milk. The power of cloves mixed with a little honey is also a safe, natural way to relieve morning sickness.

Coriander:  Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, relieves internal heat/burning sensation/thirst, colic, digestive aid and liver stimulant.It is good for treating fevers, quenching thirst and is the best natural diuretic.

Cumin : Digestive aid, blood purifier, skin conditions, oedema.

Fennel  : Brain tonic,digestive aid and laxative, blood and menstrual disorders, colic.

Fenugreek : Rejuvenator , loss of appetite, post natal aid, abdominal pain.

Garlic  :  Rejuvenator, analgesic, aphrodisiac, brain and heart tonic.Garlic s particularly useful if you have a heart condition because it lowers cholesterol and reduce blood clotting, so helping to minimize the risk of heart attacks and stokes.

Fresh Ginger : Excellent appetizer and digestive aid,analgesic, antisemitic,aphrodisiac, carminative, nervine tonic, expectorant, useful in rheumatoid arthritis.

It s also a good way to stimulate the appetite of children who are fussy to poor eaters.

Turmeric  : Anti inflammatory, wound healer, analgesic useful in joint disorders and skin disorders. It purifies the blood and is often used to clear systemic, toxaemia and beautify the skin.

Arjuna : Heart tonic, oedema. It is useful for treating coughs and the symptoms of tuberculosis.

Ashwagandha : Nervine tonic, aphrodisiac, rejuvenator, useful n rheumatoid arthritis and other degenerative conditions.

Brahmi : Brain tonic, useful in depression.

Gotu kola : Brain tonic, nervine tonic, analgesic antipyretic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory. It is favorite with the student fraternity because of ts ability to improve concentration, memory and alertness.

Haritaki : Nervine tonic, laxative, rejuvenator.

AloeVera  : Useful in colic skin inflammations and burns, dysentery, conjunctivities.

Meshashringi : Diabetes .Not only it lower blood sugar levels by increasing insulin production, it actually blocks our ability to taste 'sweet' foods, so helping people to avoid the sweet, sugary snacks that are known to trigger type 2 diabetes.

Needm : Inflammatory skin conditions, inflammatory intestinal problems such as colitis, diabetes, high fever.

Shatavari : Rejuvenator, female reproductive tonic, aphrodisiac.
